Master English and Chinese for academic and professional success.
Our Intensive Language Education Programme is designed to immerse students in English and Chinese language learning through applied learning techniques. We focus on developing the four essential language skills—reading, listening, speaking, and writing—to ensure students achieve fluency and proficiency. Our primary level curriculum integrates Project-Based Learning (PBL), a dynamic approach that encourages students to explore real-world problems and practical applications of their language skills. This hands-on language learning method enhances critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity, helping students develop confidence in English and Chinese communication. By incorporating cultural elements, interactive activities, and immersive experiences, we provide a rich and engaging language learning environment that prepares students for global communication, academic achievement, and future career opportunities.

Kindergarten 1
At SHINE, our Kindergarten Programme provides a strong foundation for our youngest learners, fostering curiosity and a love for language from an early age. Children can join our Kindergarten 1 class at age 3 or within three months of turning 3. In this early stage, students are introduced to letter and number recognition, tracing, counting (one to ten), and engaging thematic lessons designed to expand their vocabulary and speaking skills.

Kindergarten 2
Our Kindergarten 2 classes follow the Jolly Phonics curriculum, a structured approach that teaches the individual and combined sounds of letters, laying the groundwork for reading and writing. The program also introduces spelling, grammar, punctuation, and blending techniques, ensuring a solid grasp of language fundamentals. Through Jolly Phonics reading books, students develop a love for reading and writing while exploring various topics and character-building lessons.

Kindergarten 3
In Kindergarten 3 students aged 5 to 7 years old advance their literacy skills by learning around 70 tricky words and up to 200 blending words, preparing them for fluent reading by the end of the year. The curriculum focuses on sentence construction, comprehension, penmanship, and writing skills, ensuring they can form and articulate complete thoughts correctly. As they transition to Year 1, the program becomes more structured and academically challenging, equipping them with the confidence and skills needed for their next educational step. Additionally, our young learners are introduced to the Chinese language through engaging videos and songs that cover basic sounds, leveraging their natural receptiveness to create an immersive and effective language-learning experience.
“Children must be taught how to think, not what to think.” – Margaret Mead
Primary
Our primary curriculum (Grades 1–6) follows the English World Series, a British language programme aligned with Singapore’s primary school standards. It is designed to build fluency in speaking and accuracy in writing while developing listening, reading, and study skills through increasingly challenging activities. Complementing this, our primary levels integrate Project-Based Learning, where students tackle real-world problems to enhance critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity by working in small teams under teacher guidance. Art education is woven throughout the curriculum to nurture self-expression, imagination, and visual communication. Through hands-on projects in drawing, painting, and mixed media, students explore a range of artistic techniques and cultural themes, building confidence and aesthetic awareness alongside their academic development. Additionally, Chinese classes focus on fluency in speaking and writing, using stories, games, and interactive activities to reinforce comprehension and language application in an engaging and dynamic way.
Lower Secondary
Our lower secondary (Grades 7–9) curriculum blends core elements of the Cambridge and Singaporean curricula in a modular program, with students participating in four modules: Core English, Academic Writing, Global Perspectives, and Chinese. The English modules focus on fluency, text analysis, essay writing, and speech enhancement, preparing students for presentations, interviews, and future academic success. The Global Perspectives module develops students’ critical thinking, research, and communication skills through the exploration of real-world global issues such as sustainability, innovation, health, and human rights. With a strong emphasis on inquiry and collaboration, this module encourages students to consider multiple viewpoints, take informed action, and connect their learning to both local and international contexts. These skills are essential for success in STEM and other 21st-century fields, fostering globally minded, future-ready learners. The Chinese module continues to build fluency in speaking and writing through interactive and culturally rich activities that strengthen comprehension and practical language use.
