Our Early Years Centre in Siem Reap offers a toddler daycare program designed for children aged 18 months and above, providing a nurturing and stimulating environment where they can explore, play, and grow. At SHINE, we believe that quality early childhood education shapes a child’s future, fostering a love for learning and building confidence through a play-based curriculum. Our philosophy emphasizes that children learn best through engaging experiences, so we strive to ignite curiosity and nurture lifelong learning while maintaining a close partnership with families to support both intellectual and character development. Through a sensory-rich, exploratory approach, we empower children to develop motor skills, enhance social interactions, and engage in hands-on discovery. Recognizing that every child’s learning journey is unique, we use a portfolio-based assessment to track their growth, achievements, and developmental progress over time.

Social-Emotional

Children are encouraged to develop a strong sense of self-awareness and self-identity, fostering a deep understanding of their emotions and the importance of managing them effectively. Through engaging activities and thoughtful guidance, they learn how to navigate and manage their emotions and impulses, promoting emotional intelligence and resilience. Our Early Years Centre also focuses on cultivating basic social awareness, helping students understand their interactions with others and the impact their actions and choices have on both themselves and those around them. This holistic approach to personal growth empowers children to build positive relationships and become thoughtful, empathetic individuals.

Language and Communication

Children are guided in developing a strong understanding of language and its role in communication. They are encouraged to explore various methods of expressing ideas, whether through spoken words, visual symbols, or non-verbal cues. This helps them become confident in seeking help or conveying meaning effectively, ensuring they can communicate their thoughts and needs clearly. Through activities and interactions, children also build awareness of the wide range of symbols used in communication, from written language to visual signs, fostering a deeper appreciation for the diverse ways we connect and share information.

Cognitive

Children are encouraged to show curiosity and engage in inquiring about their environment, using their senses to explore and construct knowledge. Through hands-on experiences, they actively gather information from the world around them, which guides their actions and decisions. As they explore, children become increasingly aware of the relationships, patterns, and changes in objects, people, and the environment, helping them develop a deeper understanding of the world and their place within it. This approach fosters a love for discovery and a keen sense of observation, supporting their growth as curious and thoughtful learners.

“The goal of early childhood education should be to activate the child’s own natural desire to learn.” – Maria Montessori

Physical

Children are supported in developing basic healthy practices and an understanding of safety, promoting a foundation for lifelong well-being. They begin to explore and understand their bodies and their functions, building awareness of how to take care of themselves. Through a range of physical activities, children develop their gross motor skills, gaining control over their movements and the ability to navigate and explore their environment with confidence. At the same time, they work on refining their fine motor skills, gaining competence in coordinating hand-eye movements to manipulate and control objects. This holistic approach helps children grow stronger, more confident, and physically capable in their everyday activities.
