SHINE’s (Part-time) General English Programme (GEP) is designed to equip learners with the English language skills, confidence, and competencies needed for academic achievement, professional success, and effective communication in an increasingly globalised world. Through interactive pair work, group discussions, presentations, and real-life communication activities, students develop their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in a supportive and engaging learning environment. Using internationally recognised Cambridge PREPARE coursebooks and Cambridge-aligned teaching methodologies, lessons are practical, learner-centred, and designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. The programme consists of five progressive levels, from Cambridge Beginners to Cambridge Upper Intermediate, with each level completed over a nine-month period. Upon successful completion of the programme, students are expected to achieve approximately CEFR B2 (Upper Intermediate) proficiency, enabling them to communicate confidently in academic, workplace, and everyday settings. With small class sizes, experienced instructors, personalised support, and a strong commitment to educational excellence, SHINE provides a structured pathway for learners to achieve Cambridge readiness, pursue further studies, and develop the English language skills essential for future success.

Students will expand their vocabulary, refine their grammar, and learn to articulate more complex ideas in both written and spoken English. The focus is on improving fluency, comprehension, and communication skills, with a particular emphasis on real-life contexts. By the end of this level, students will be able to engage in more nuanced conversations, understand a broader range of materials, and effectively communicate in both personal and professional settings.
